Palmyra House Studio on the Shores of the Arabian Sea Offers Up True Serenity by Ascent on August 23, 2011 in home design
While a majority of the modern designs
in architecture are located in places where they are largely expected,
like large American cities and the other major metropolis areas around
the world, there are many other places that feature some very inspired
designs as well. India has a whole lot of really great architects and we
are going to take a look at the work of one of them today. This is the
Palmyra House Studio in Mumbai.
This house, located just outside of
Mumbai on the Arabian Sea was built to be an escape from the hustle and
bustle of the busy city close by. It is a 3,000 sq. ft. house that
features two wooden louvered structures that are set inside of a
functioning coconut plantation. The whole design and the way that
everything fits together is actually much more complex than it looks at
first glance, but we have to say that it truly does look very nice
indeed.
The living room, study and the master bedroom are contained in the north volume of the house, while the kitchen,
dining room and guest rooms are located in the southern section. There
is a pool included as well and as if that weren’t enough there are some
very nice views of the sea to be enjoyed. The structural build of the
house is made up of ain wood, a local hardwood and is held together
using traditional interlocking joinery. This will surely make a great
place to get away from it all.
