Περιβάλλον Ενέργεια Οικολογία: Τα παχύφυτα είναι μια ειδική κατηγορία φυτών που μπορούν αποταμιεύουν μεγάλες ποσότητες νερού στα σαρκώδη φύλλα, το στέλεχος και τις ρίζες . Αυτό έχει σαν αποτέλεσμα να είναι ιδιαίτερα ανθεκτικά στην ξηρασία και να μπορούν να παραμείνουν απότιστα για μεγάλα χρονικά διαστήματα. Η ιδιότητά τους αυτή οφείλεται στα εξής χαρακτηριστικά: -έχουν δικό τους σύστημα μεταβολισμού που μειώνει τις απώλειες υγρασίας. -συνήθως δεν έχουν φύλλα ή αν έχουν, αυτά είναι κυλινδρικά ή σφαιρικά. -τα φύλλα έχουν πολύ λιγότερα στομάτια . -η φωτοσύνθεση γίνεται κυρίως από τα στελέχη και λιγότερο από τα φύλλα. -έχουν συνήθως μικρή ανάπτυξη και σχήμα σφαιρικό και compact. -πολλές φορές τα φύλλα και τα στελέχη καλύπτονται από χνούδι, αγκαθάκια ή κηρώδες επίχρισμα που μειώνει τις απώλειες της υγρασίας. -η επιδερμίδα τους είναι αδιαπέραστη και ανθεκτική. -οι ρίζες τους είναι επιφανειακές και μπορούν να εκμεταλλεύονται ακόμα και το ελάχιστο νερό που πέφτει στο έδαφος...

8 Φεβρουαρίου 2012, 13:49 | Εμφανίσεις: 157 Περιβάλλον Ενέργεια Οικολογία: Οι εταιρείες τεχνολογίας δεν παράγουν μονάχα προϊόντα με μειωμένο ανθρακικό αποτύπωμα, αλλά επικεντρώνονται στον σχεδιασμό προϊόντων που βελτιώνουν την ενεργειακή αποδοτικότητα των επιχειρήσεων και των νοικοκυριών που τα προμηθεύονται. Στο νέο κατάλογο της Greenpeace , οι εταιρείες που συνδυάζουν τα δυο στοιχεία που προαναφέρθηκαν και κερδίζουν τις καλύτερες βαθμολογίες είναι η Cisco, η Google, η σουηδική Ericcson, η βρετανική εταιρεία κινητής τηλεφωνίας Vodafone και η ιαπωνική Fujitsu. Η Cisco απέσπασε θετικά σχόλια και υψηλή θέση στον κατάλογο της Greenpeace για το λογισμικό «EnergyWise», που διαχειρίζεται την κατανάλωση ενέργειας των συσκευών με τις οποίες συνδέεται.
